Why your home shouldn’t be perfect…

I felt like it was the write thing to do to write this post after I finished our bedtime routine with the kids, had my hair in a bun on top of my head, comfy pajamas on, with Married at First Sight in the background (okkkk guilty pleasure)! The topic of a “perfect home” is one I think about ALL THE TIME. In today's world, we're bombarded with images of picture-perfect homes, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. It's easy to feel like your own home falls short of these idealized standards. Is there really such thing as a perfect home? Definitely not. And honestly, where would the fun be in that? In my home, I’m all about pursuing the imperfections! There are tantrums, plenty of messes, chaotic schedules, sleepless nights, and lots of laundry! But better than any of that, there is so much love. There are these little moments where I see Reece include his baby sister in a game, the few minutes where he sits in his little chair and reads all his books aloud, sis gives us her first belly laugh, or the time Reece grabbed all of us in a squeeze and said “hey family! this is what love feels like”. That’s the good stuff. As a mom, I’ve watched how my actions speak much louder than my words. They hang on every detail. They are watching how you treat others, your spouse, your friends, and how you carry yourself to complete strangers. It’s in the little moments that they grow into the people we are pouring into. My little family is my reminder that a kept home isn’t what life is about. It's important to strike a balance between aesthetics AND practicality! Am I right? It’s my job to share beautiful pieces, looks for less, and products that fit your individual style. BUT in my personal life, it’s truly what happens between these walls that really means the most to me. I’ve quickly learned a few things - kids can be messy AND that’s okay. I have started to recognize that enjoying the chaos while it lasts and embracing all the trains scattered around the playroom is what makes our home uniquely ours. It’s the place my babies took their first steps, learned what love feels like, and where we spent time together as a family. Balance is the hard part, right? I’ve always strived to give my undivided attention, yet want them to grow up seeing what it looks like to chase a passion, if that’s what they feel called to do. Chasing your dreams often requires stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying new things. Creating this business has given me an outlet to design, be creative, and share my love for interiors with each of you.

I don’t believe in perfect. I believe in real, authentic, and staying true to yourself. I’ve been gifted a supportive family and the best girlfriends I could ever ask for. You become who you surround yourself by! You deserve to choose your friends with intention and create a circle that lifts you up and supports you! Life takes a village, and we are created to be loved and feel supported by the people we cherish most. We should all try to BE the friend we want to have. This is SO corny, but when I’m rocking my babies I often think of the saying:“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to change you is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson. This saying was hanging in my bedroom growing up and I couldn’t agree with it more! I hope to teach my kids that being themselves is powerful and I hope they surround themselves by people who love them for who they were created to be. It's easy to get caught up in comparing your home to those of others. But the truth is, everyone's situation is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on what's important to you and your family. And that my friends, is what we do here at Design with Amber!

I hope to bring this same energy to your home! Whether you love every inch decorated to the nines or you want to create a look for less space that gives you functionality.. I’m your girl!

Let’s become friends and create an imperfect home that’s just right for you and the ones you love!

XO, Amber
